As the rain bludgeoned the leaves of the fruit trees, hanging heavily with their seasonal fruit and to a lesser extent the oaks and beeches that grew on the slopes of the wood. The shadows grew more cumbersome and inexperienced, revelling in their gaitley movements and nightly bringing their terror to some and instinctive camouflage to others. I knew not what I cared but cared I must as evening stars and thy virginal moon who's naked and replenished body I could scent, and whose white thighs could caress my body as I stood all but naked a little distance from the edge of the wood and in whose pastures I had not but rolled and laughed with my brother whom I loved as only brothers could and whose food I would willingly steal from under him and whose scent was delicious and almost a delicacy to inhale & savour.
Could life be such a bore as to think of nothing but eating and sleeping and maybe the occasional mating with one's cousin or a friend of the family.
Is life so straightforward as our parents display before us time and time again. Is there nothing beyond rumor and gossip to satisfy our needs. Is life so idle and complacent that we willingly stand by and watch as a trout is plucked from the wandering stream or a butterfly falls to the ground with one wing torn and broken.
The meaning of life is that everything has a meaning, and purpose, and when people talk about enlightenment they are saying look beyond what your eyes see and when you can do that, to think, think until it sounds crazy and tiresome. Think about the present, and feel awed at the heavens, and consider the relationship of the life you lead to that of everything around you.
